Mumbai: A television serial based on Mahatma Gandhi's life will soon be telecast on Doordarshan.
The serial titled 'Gandhi - a journey of Mahatma', will have over 300 episodes depicting the life of the Father of The Nation.
Rajendra Upadhayay, a well known theatre activist, who has done extensive research for 15 years on the life of theMahatma, has scripted the mega serial.
Legendary singer Jagjit Singh has sung the title song - 'Raghupati Ragav Raja Ram..'.
"Our serial starts before the birth of Gandhiji. It would show his family background, what his father was doing, Gandhiji's birth, his childhood. There are chapters on how he stealthily ate meat, smoked, took money from his father's wallet, his school days, his childhood marriage," Director Ashwini Sharma said.
