HYDERABAD: Senior IPS officer Umesh Kumar filed an amendment petition in the High Court Tuesday, seeking a CBI probe into the property dealings of DGP V Dinesh Reddy and his wife Kamala Reddy. The court will hear the petition next Tuesday. According to Kumar’s counsel Sripada Prabhakar, the amendment petition seeks a CBI probe into the land dealings of Dinesh and Kamala Reddy with two persons: Y Ravi Prasad and A Krishna Reddy."Ravi Prasad and Krishna Reddy are said to have 542 properties in their names. These are possibly benamis of Dinesh Reddy and his wife. Dinesh Reddy’s wife has conducted property transactions with the two persons,’’ Prabhakar said. The petition stated that the couple purchased properties from Ravi Prasad and sold them at a premium to Krishna Reddy. "Krishna Reddy is also the GPA holder for Kamala Reddy. It is unusual for two persons to have as many as 542 properties,’’ Prabhakar said. While filing the amendment petition, Umesh Kumar’s counsel said his client had not known about these transactions earlier; therefore it was decided to file an amendment petition. “Though 542 properties are referred to in the remand report, that detail was mysteriously omitted from the chargesheet filed in the Sunil Reddy case,’’ Prabhakar said. There was no mention of any damage to Dinesh Reddy’s image in the charge-sheet, he added. The amendment petition, Prabhakar said, questions how Dinesh Reddy could conduct an inquiry into allegations against himself and give himself a clean chit even before an enquiry was ordered into the forgery case. The counsel pointed out that a memo -- purporting to show that it was Dinesh Reddy who ordered the CID to register an FIR in the Sunil Reddy case -- was not being shown to him, the judge directed the additional advocate-general to show a copy of the memo to Kumar’s counsel. “I was shown the memo signed by Dinesh Reddy in the chambers of the additional advocate-general,’’ Prabhakar said.In his counter-affidavit, Dinesh Reddy had said he had nothing to do with the CID and that he had no role to play in the whole affair concerning the forgery probe involving Sunil Reddy who confessed to the investigators that he collected details of properties belonging to Dinesh Reddy’s wife at the behest of Umesh Kumar.
