New Delhi: Amid reports of Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu sulking over Centre's failure to fulfill promises to his state in the Union Budget, senior TDP leader and Union Minister YS Chowdary on Saturday met BJP president Amit Shah pressing for special package for the bifurcated state.

According to TDP sources, Chowdary met the BJP chief at the latter's (BJP) party office and discussed about various assurances in the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act.

"The meeting lasted for 20 minutes, in which several issues including special package and pending financial aid for Hud Hud cyclone were discussed with Shah," a TDP source said. Asked whether Naidu's displeasure over the Union Budget was conveyed to the BJP president, sources said that the Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister has already expressed his views to the Prime Minister and Finance Minister.

The sources also claimed that Shah assured Chowdary that necessary steps would be taken for implementing the assurances in the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act, and hoped that the BJP chief would also take up the issue with Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Naidu had said that the Union Budget failed to fulfill the promises made to the state at the time of bifurcation last year.

Recalling that several promises have been made to (new) Andhra Pradesh in the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act, the Chief Minister had expressed disappointment that they have not been fulfilled in the Union Budget.
