The wife had lodged a complaint with the police, saying Prabhu was kidnapped.

Chennai: Union Minister Dasari Narayana Rao's son Hari Hara Prabhu, who made a dramatic appearance after being reportedly kidnapped by a gang at Chittoor in Andhra Pradesh, said on Thursday that he faced threat to his life and sought police protection.

"I came to know that a group of 15 rowdies from Andhra Pradesh has been roaming in three cars since Wednesday night to kidnap me. As there is a threat to my life any moment, I've sought police protection," he said.

Accusing his estranged wife, Susheela, of getting his signature on blank papers after forcing him to drink alcohol, Prabhu said he had no inclination to live with her again and that he would get legal separation from her in a few months.

He claimed the differences with Susheela cropped up after she wanted his property to be transferred in her name. He also denied her charge that his parents had enacted the kidnap drama in order to separate him from her.

Later, he left for Hyderabad with his mother. "I am leaving with my mother with full happiness," he told reporters in Chennai.

Susheela had on Tuesday lodged a complaint with the police that a group of five men barged into a hotel room and kidnapped Prabhu at gunpoint.

However, Prabhu, who surfaced in Chennai on Wednesday and denied he was kidnapped. He said he had come to the city on his own.
