ALUVA: The Regional Dialysis Centre attached to the District Hospital here witnessed a unique get together on Sunday. The patients undergoing dialysis at the centre along with their relatives and organisers of the centre had an informal get-together here to celebrate Onam.The Regional Dialysis Centre here is the first-of-its -kind in Government Hospitals across the State. The centre was launched around seven months back under the initiative of P Rajeev MP. His MP fund and support from many public and private institutions and voluntary organisations was utilised for the purpose.Poor patients could undergo dialysis by paying just Rs. 200. Around 60 patients are treated here, daily. Around 2,500 dialysis have been done here so far. The Cochin Shipyard Ltd (3), Aluva Regional Blood Transfusion Center (2), Aluva Resident Overseas Malayalee Association (2), TELK (1), Al Ihsan Trust Aluva (1), Rotary Club of Aluva (1), CMRL (1) and Cochin International Airport Ltd (1) had sponsored dialysis units to the Centre. Reverse osmosis plant, force traveler ambulance, 82.5 KVA generator, air conditioners and TV were also donated by various organisations, making the centre a modern unit with all facilities. The onam celebration and family get together was inaugurated by P Rajeev MP. Anwar Sadath MLA presided over the meeting. Cine Director Siddique released the website and brochure of the centre.
