New Delhi: Veteran singer Asha Bhonsle has turned so fond of actress Urmila Matondkar that she says Urmila is “like a daughter” to her. Asha recently recorded and shot a music video for the album Asha and Friends with Urmila, and she was all praise for her singing talents.
Asha has gifted a huge statue of goddess Saraswati to Urmila as she felt that the actress has been gifted with good voice. “Urmila, Sanjay Dutt, Brett Lee and other singers who featured with me took me by surprise. Sanju's voice has so much baritone that it can give a complex to many male singers. Urmila was a revelation,” said Asha.
All the three music videos of Dutt, Lee and Matondkar have received stupendous response. Ghazal singer Jagjit Singh too admired Urmila's singing. ''She is brilliant. I am stunned by her ability to sing. I only thought that she was a great actress,'' he said.
The best line however came from Ashaji after she saw the video with Urmila. 'Don't we look like mother and daughter?' she said.
All the four songs from Asha and Friends--Aap Ke Dil Mein featuring Sanjay Dutt, Haan Mein Tumhara Hoon featuring Brett Lee, Mehbooba Dilruba featuring Urmila and Zamane Mein Aaye are huge hits with their first three being chartbusters within the first week of the video release, said the sponsors.
