Washington: US on Saturday said it is confident that Pakistan's nuclear weapons will not get into the hands of militants.
"The President has been very clear about the fact that we are confident that these weapons will not get in militant hands," State Department spokesman Robert Wood told reporters in response to a question on the issue after the conclusion of the tri-lateral meeting between the US, Pakistan and Afghanistan here.
Visiting Pakistan President Asif Ali Zardari had on Friday asserted that the nuclear weapons of Pakistan are safe and secure and there is no need for any concern on this issue.
"All the responsible authorities who are responsible for such positions in the world are aware of the situation and have attested to the fact that our nuclear capability is in safe hands," he said at the Capitol Hill at media availability.
In the last few weeks, serious concerns have been raised by the Obama Administration, Congressmen and the media about the safety of nuclear weapons in case of a Government fall or expanding influence of the Taliban in Pakistan.
