If you are on the lookout for a sumptuous Indian, Italian, Continental and Chinese fare, head to Carnival in Abhiramapuram (Alwarpet). Carnival, which was once a fine-dining restaurant, took the shape of a cafe recently,  bringing with it the signature dishes from the original restaurant. Although the Carnival predominantly specialises in confectioneries, it also features an array of multi-cuisine vegetarian and non-vegetarian combos at its recently launched cafe that is not just lip-smacking, but also affordable.  Chef Shiva, who has been with the Carnival for about 12 years, is one of the main architects behind these dishes. Ramya Venkatraman, Carnival’s owner’s daughter, is in charge of food tasting. You could try the first combo on their list, a meal comprising of a sandwich, burger, submarine or wrap combo served with soup, salad, french fries and chocolate mousse. The next on the list is the Italian combo of soup, salad, garlic bread, pasta of the day and chocolate mousse. The Chinese combo is the most popular, comprising of soup, starters, noodle or rice with Chinese veggie sauce and dessert. Last but not the least, there is also the Indian combo of Dhal Shorba, starter, phulka/chapathi, pulav, dhal makhani, paneer burji, raitha and dessert. You could try the paratha combo which comprises of soup, dal tadka, paneer sabji, raitha, two full parathas, either lacha or aalu or radish parathas. There is an array of meals out here like veg stroganoff with rice, pulav and veg jalferazi or paneer makhani; phulka with dhal makhani. This place is also popular for its biriyani combo.  Among starters, the most popular are veg momos. You con also try vegetable and cheese stakes. Among soup varieties, the most popular are tomato and basil soup and the broccoli soup. Desserts here are a must-try and you could choose anything from a chocolate mousse to a strawberry mousse or white forest cakes,blueberry and strawberry cheese cakes or the Sri Lankan coconut cake, which is also called the love cake.  The veg combo costs Rs 150.
