They were presented with the ‘Paramacharya’ and the ‘Acharya’ awards in an event organised by Call Teachers, an online portal that provides contact information about teachers across the country.Presided by Padma Subrahmanyam, danseuse and president of Nrithyodaya, the seventh installment of Guru Samarpanam saw stalwarts like K M Cherian, actor Lakshmi and A R Srinivasan received the Paramacharya award for their contributions in the fields of medicine, cinema and theatre respectively. A Kanyakumari, for her achievements with the violin, Subbu Arumugam for his expertise in ‘villupattu’ and V K Subramaniam, in the field of education were also awarded the Paramacharya award.Vocalists Shanmuga Priya and Hari Priya, dancers K Mahalakshmi and G Narendran, dietician Ambika Sekar were among those who were honoured with the Acharya awards. Raghavendra Rao, founder-chairman and managing director of Orchid Chemicals and Pharmaceuticals Ltd was the guest of honour.
