Opposition leader V S Achuthanandan demanded Chief Minister Oommen Chandy to clarify his stand on the controversial appointment of Finance Minister and Kerala Congress (M) leader K M Mani’s son-in-law M P Joseph as the Additional Chief Secretary ‘violating norms’.
In a statement issued here on Sunday, the Opposition leader alleged that the appointment was in gross violation of service rules.
“Joseph, who was dismissed from service by the Central Government for violating All-India Service Rules, has now been appointed as the Industrial Relations and Project Finance Consultant in the rank of Additional Chief Secretary. Joseph’s case did not stand in the Central Administrative Tribunal and the High Court and his appointment is in violation of service rules,” Achuthanandan said.
Achuthanandan alleged that the appointment of a former IAS officer, who was dismissed by the Central Government, giving him all powers of the Additional Chief Secretary was improper and illegal.
