Mumbai: B R Chopra's classic film Naya Daur, with new colours and stereophonic sound, is all set to hit theatres this week.
And though the premiere has been cancelled to show solidarity towards Sanjay Dutt, the lead actress of the film Vyjayantimala did come down from Chennai to see the new version.
“It’s great that Ravi has done this to bring back this great masterpiece. I would call Naya Daur a classic. It’s a big thing for the public and the audience. I am very happy,” said Vyjantimala.
Vyjantimala was in her early 20s when she did the film. Before Naya Daur, Vyjantimala and Dilip Kumar had already delivered a super-hit with Bimal Roy's Devdas. But she insists that it is a special film because of her character and director B R Chopra.
“To work under him was great experience. It was a spirited role and in those times, it was a powerful role to stand by the man and go through everything. It was wonderful opportunity,” said Vyjantimala.
So, those of you who have been missing Vyjayantimala and Dilip Kumar on the big screen, head to your nearest theatre this Friday to catch Naya Daur in new colours.
