KOCHI: The Kerala State Electricity Board (KSEB) office, situated opposite to the Jawaharlal Nehru International Stadium in Kaloor, will shift to the stadium building (No.13.1206) on Monday, authorities said.It is being shifted to allow the demolition of the building, presently housing the office, owing to the continuous waterlogging in its ground floor. According to the authorities, the office suffers frequent waterlogging because the it is situated in a low lying area. “During rains, the water flows in from the road and drains. The slope of the road is such that the rain water flows directly into the KSEB compound. Even a moderate shower is enough to cause serious waterlogging in the ground floor of the office,” said Sajeev Kumar, assistant engineer, electrical section. The reception area, cash and the billing counters function from the the ground floor and suffer the most. Last time, these sections were shifted to the first floor, causing distress to both employees and consumers. The building also hosts the assistant engineer’s and assistant executive engineer’s offices. The decision regarding the date of demolition will be taken by the KSEB in the coming days.
