Despite having a woeful start to the 2013 season, McLaren's sporting director Sam Michael is adamant that the team is still in the game and can make a comeback in the upcoming races.
Both McLaren drivers - Jenson Button and Sergio Perez - failed to secure a top ten finish in Montreal last weekend. This was the first time first time in 64 races that McLaren did not manage a single point in a race.
McLaren have not finished at the podium in the season so far but showing full confidence in his team, Michael said that McLaren are not giving up.
"I don't think you ever get to a point where you write it off - we will always be pushing to improve the car and get good results right to the end," he told Sky Sports.
"In terms of bringing development parts to the car, the August shutdown is going to be a natural point for most teams to start ramping down this year and putting everything into 2014," he said.
