Weaver Dies as Bank Issues Notice

ANANTAPUR: In a bizzare incident, a 40yearold handloom weaver suffered cardiac arrest and died on Monday after being issued a notice by the SBI, Dharmavaram branch for repayment of loan.
According to information reaching, Chandrasekhar, a handloom weaver in Sivanagar area of Dharmavaram town, had taken a loan of `1.5 lakh from the SBI branch two years ago. The interest on the loan accumulated to `70,000. He took loans from others and had even pledged his house to a private moneylender to clear the interest. The bank issued a notice to Chandrasekhar, a couple of days ago, asking him to repay the loan (principal amount) failing which the house which was shown as surety will be auctioned. The poor weaver had even prepared a memorandum to urge the district collector to waive his loan and submit the same during the Grievance Day on Monday. However, he suffered a massive cardiac arrest and died in the early hours.
