Withdraw support to UPA: BJP tells Left
BJP Chief Rajnath Singh on Thursday asked them the Left parties to withdraw support to the UPA government if they mean business.

New Delhi: Terming the Left Parties' opposition to the fuel price hike as a "drama", BJP Chief Rajnath Singh on Thursday asked them to withdraw support to the UPA government if they mean business.

"The way prices of all commodities have risen in the last two years since the Congress-led government supported by Left has come to power is unprecedented in the history of independent India," he said.

"If they are really concerned over the interests of people, they should withdraw support. If they don't, it will be presumed that they lack sincerity," Singh added.

He said the Left's support to the government even while opposing the price hike is nothing but a "drama and betrayal."

"The Left Parties support the government inside Parliament and oppose it on the streets. This is a drama and betrayal. They should not betray people like this," he said.

Training his guns on Congress President Sonia Gandhi, he said, "I read in newspapers today that she wanted the hike to be reduced and sought to know how prices have risen."

"The truth is that even children in this country knew ever since the Rangarajan Committee submitted its report that this government is going to rise the petrol prices after the Parliament session. Whatever the Left Parties and the Congress President is doing is a cruel joke," the BJP Chief said.

Singh alleged that the entire country knows that Prime Minister Manmohan Singh cannot do anything without the approval of the Congress President.
