Islamabad: Pakistan President Asif Ali Zardari reached Myanmar on Tuesday on a two-day official visit to hold talks with the country's top leadership on bilateral issues, besides meeting pro-democracy icon Aung San Suu Kyi.
Upon his arrival at the Naypyidaw International Airport, Zardari was accorded a warm red carpet welcome.
Myanmar's Union Minister for Health Pe Thet Khin and Union Minister for Education Mya Aye and Pakistan ambassador to Myanmar received the president, Pakistani news agency APP reported.
Besides holding talks with Myanmar President Thein Sein on economic and trade cooperation, Zardari will travel to Yangon tomorrow to confer 'Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto Shaheed Award' on Suu Kyi.
He will also visit the mausoleum of last Mughal emperor Bahadur Shah Zafar.
