Excessive growth of hair growth in the body might be an underlying cause of a hormonal imbalance

Most of us are guilty of having a hectic lifestyle, poor eating habits, and stress which can create havoc on hormonal function. For a woman, these factors can lead to hormone imbalance issues. The symptoms can be uterine fibroids, osteoporosis, reduced sex drive, unexplained weight gain, skin changes, fatigue, water retention, hair loss, facial hair growth, and mood changes.

Highlighting the issue of having facial hair due to an underlying disease, Shikha Gupta, a Nutritionist, Fitness Coach, Yoga Practitioner, and Health and Lifestyle Influencer, uploaded an informative reel on Instagram.

Excessive growth of hair growth in the body might be an underlying cause of a hormonal imbalance. Addressing this, she explained that females having facial hair is an important symptom of having high androgens (male hormones) in the body. These male hormones in women increases because of insulin resistance.

She provides solutions to reduce facial hair which does not require you to rush off to a dermatologist. She lists down some important steps to be followed immediately.

Cutting down sugar, refined foods, packet foods, and refined oils. She suggests having an organic lifestyle minus chemicals and inorganic foods which can increase estrogen and create hormonal imbalances like PCOS. Incorporating zinc, chaste berry, saw palmetto (a natural DHT blocker that stops facial hair), and DIM supplements.

Cutting down on excess carbs and keeping it 20% of your plate at once.

increase intake of Omega 3 by having fish, flaxseeds, almonds, and walnuts.

Eliminate estrogen from the body in two ways. You should not be constipated (eat overnight soaked prunes on empty stomach in the morning) and sweating through a workout will eliminate estrogen.

Eat a lot of green leafy vegetables, cabbage, broccoli, radish, and cauliflower.

And the last point highlighted managing stress. She advises long walks, taking breaks, and proper sleep, to destress and maintain insulin resistance.

Her caption concluded with a note – Facial Hair to go can really be a struggle in spite of doing everything correctly. It can take a crazy amount of time to see improvement in reduction. It will first slow down the growth and then reduce in number.
