Kasturi Shankar’s controversial statements often grab the spotlight.

Bengaluru’s M Chinnaswamy Stadium, during a recent Indian Premier League (IPL) 17 match, witnessed Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB)’s glorious victory over Chennai Super Kings (CSK). RCB booked the final spot in playoffs by defeating CSK by more than 17 runs in the final over. This left the RCB fans to go into a frenzy and assume the team’s “phoenix rise” and ultimately lift the trophy. Unfortunately, all hopes were quashed on May 22, after Rajasthan Royals won by four wickets and scored 174/6, while RCB made 172 runs for 8 wickets. The already irked CSK fans and others took to social media to troll the team for once again being out of the race and not being able to bring the trophy home. Amid a myriad of memes and trolling, Tamil actress Kasturi Shankar mocked the team’s defeat.

Kasturi Shankar’s controversial statements often grab the spotlight. Recently, she made a remark about Indian actress Aishwarya Rai Bachchan by claiming that plastic has ruined her timeless beauty. Now, Kasturi trolled the Royal Challengers Bengaluru team by sharing a meme on X (formerly known as Twitter). She shared the image of Bengaluru Cantonment Railway Railway Station, where the word cantonment is written in the short form, ‘Cant’, and hence it read, ‘Bengaluru Cant’. Her tweet read, “The locals have known for years.”

A majority shared her vibe and supported her mockery of the team’s defeat, a few were quick to remind her that it was not RCB that was banned from IPL for two years. A comment read, “Remember 2 years ban?”

Another pointed out, “Yes of course Bengaluru Cant. 2016 and 2017…. Right!” 2016 and 2017 refer to the two years the team was banned due to the involvement of Gurunath Meiyappan, a top official of the team, in betting activities during the IPL matches.

One disappointed X user wrote, “We respect you as one of the greatest people who worked as a sandalwood artist. But now we feel sorry for ourselves for your worst mentality.”
