Annu Kapoor Meets Maharashtra CM After Hamare Baarah Team Receives Death Threats
The film faced a major backlash from viewers, even before its release.

Annu Kapoor and Manoj Joshi-starrer Hamare Baarah, which is all set to release at the cinema halls on June 7, have sparked a lot of discussion. Amidst the anticipation for this film’s release, Annu Kapoor met Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde on Monday. Post the meeting, the veteran actor had an interaction with the media. The 68-year-old actor said that he spoke with the CM about the threats he and his film team are receiving. He said, “The director of our film Kamal Chandra along with the team of the film are getting death threats. People who have been threatening us have said that they will sever the head of Kamal Chandra.” He added that the Chief Minister has ensured and given categorical directions to his administration regarding Hamare Baarah’s team security.

Even before the release, Hamare Baarah faced a major backlash from viewers. According to Kashmir Times, there is a glimpse of uncouth crude and communal propaganda in this film’s trailer. The publication added that Hamare Baarah’s trailer is disturbing and can poison the minds of an entire generation. Amidst the raging controversy, the film’s trailer was abruptly pulled down from online platforms, after releasing on May 30.

Annu Kapoor, however, has slammed those criticising his film. In an exclusive chat with News18 Showsha, the actor believes that detractors are too quick to make judgments on the film even before watching it. He said that the audience talks about propaganda all the time but he is not bothered about it. He urged people to watch the film first and then make an opinion about it. Annu Kapoor said that is why people are judging a film before watching it.

Besides Annu Kapoor and Manoj Joshi, Hamare Baarah stars Ashwini Kalsekar, Parth Samthaan, Rahul Bagga, Paritosh Tripathi and others. Newtech Media Entertainment and Radhika G Films have produced Hamare Baarah. The film was previously titled Hum Do Hamare Baarah. Later, CBFC (Central Board of Film Certification) changed the title.
