On June 21, 2002, the Tamil box office was graced by an action drama film titled Ezhumalai, which means The Seven Hills. The film was directed by Arjun Sarja and also starred him in the lead role. It also featured an interesting cast, including Simran, Gajala, Mumtaj, Vijayakumar and Ashish Vidyarthi. It is a remake of the Telugu film Narasimha Naidu, starring Simran. The film was a commercial success at the box office. Now, after over two decades, looks like the film is set to get a sequel. Here is what we know.
As per reports, Arjun Sarja is all set to don the director’s hat for the film again and this time wants to launch his son-in-law, Umapathy Ramaiah in the sequel, Ezhumalai 2. It is also being speculated that Arjun Sarja will be backing the film as well. Till now there has been no official confirmation regarding the same.
Meanwhile, on June 10, Arjun Sarja’s daughter, Aishwarya, tied the knot to Thambi Ramaiah’s son, Umapathy Ramaiah. The couple’s marriage was intimate at a temple in Chennai. It was attended by close family and friends. Aishwarya Arjun dropped her wedding photos on social media that were showered with love by fans.
Speaking of Arjun Sarja’s professional endeavours, he has contributed immensely to Telugu and Kannada films along with a handful of Malayalam and Hindi films. He is also referred to as Action King for his action roles. The actor marked his debut as a child actor in the film Simhada Mari Sainya in 1981. To date, he has acted in more than 160 films and directed 12 films.
A few of his notable films are Rhythm, Ezhumalai, Parasuram and Arasatchi. He has also delivered hits like Giri and Marudhamalai. He has tried to change his image from Action King by taking up negative roles. He was last seen in Thalapathy Vijay’s Leo, with Trisha and Sanjay Dutt. In 2024, he has a few films in his kitty like Virunnu/ Virundhu, Theeyavar Kulaigal Nadunga and Vidaa Muyarchi headlined by Ajith Kumar and Trisha.
