The superhit movie of Tamil actor Jayam Ravi, Thani Oruvan is expected to get a sequel this year. Thani Oruvan 2 was announced last year on the occasion of the 10th anniversary of the movie. Jayam Ravi and Nayanthara are set to lead this Mohan Raja directorial. Now, as per the latest media reports, the puja ceremony for the movie was held in Chennai on February 21. It was attended by the actors and other crew members of the film. However, Jayam Ravi was reportedly nowhere to be seen at the puja ceremony. It is believed that the actor didn’t attend the puja ceremony of the movie because he is currently busy with the shooting of a movie in Kashmir.
Actor Jayam Ravi has three movies in his pipeline which include films like Thug Life, Brother and Genie. It is expected that the actor must have been busy with the shoot of Genie or Brother as both of them are in the production stage. He will also play a prominent role in Mani Ratnam’s directorial movie Thug Life which will star Kamal Haasan in the lead role. The production of the movie has not started yet. The sequel of Thani Oruvan will be produced under the banner of AGS Entertainment.
The superhit film, Thani Oruvan revolves around IPS officer Mithran (Jayam Ravi). He is seen at odds with the industrialists and politicians after denying them the availability of cheap medicines. He then goes on the journey to find the head of the medicine mafia. Arvind Swamy, reportedly, plays the antagonist. How Mithran deals with him forms the core theme of Thani Oruvan’s storyline. Thani Oruvan boasts a talented cast that includes Nassar, Mugdha Godse, Vamsi Krishna and others.
The movie produced on a budget of Rs 15 crore, collected over Rs 100 crore at the box office. The makers of Thani Oruvan announced a sequel to this film a few years ago but couldn’t go ahead with it due to prior commitments of Jayam. Mohan Raja is the brother of Jayam Ravi and with this sequel, the duo will mark their seventh collaboration.
