Chris Hemsworth Says He Felt Like A 'Security Guard' While Playing Thor; Robert Downey Jr Disagrees
Chris Hemsworth recently spoke about his Thor character, sharing that he felt like a 'security guard' while working in the Avengers films.

Even if Chris Hemsworth feels like his Thor character was doing nothing and that he was just a “security guard” for the team, his Avengers co-star Robert Downey Jr thinks otherwise. Speaking with Vanity Fair, Hemsworth shared that he didn’t feel like his character was doing anything, rather others had “cooler stuff and were having fun.”

For the unversed, Thor has been a replaceable part of the MCU films, since its introduction in the 2011 film. The character has gone through a lot of complex narratives throughout the franchise, showing his journey of profound transformation and growth as the Asgardian prince.

Even after having such a significant part, while Hemsworth still questions Thor’s storyline, Robert Downey Jr couldn’t help but disagree.

RDJ is all praise for his Avengers co-star

“First off, Thor as a character was super tricky to adapt — lots of implied limitations — but he and Ken Branagh figured out how to transcend, make him somehow relatable but godlike,” Downey told Vanity Fair as quoted by a Variety report. He also explained that Hemsworth had the “most complex psyche out of all,” further adding, “He’s got wit and gravitas, but also such restraint, fire and gentleness.”

The Oppenheimer star praised Chris Hemsworth’s performance in Marvel movies like Thor: Ragnarok, Avengers: Infinity War, and Avengers Endgame, calling it “a formidable hat trick.”

What did Chris Hemsworth say about Thor’s character?

Hemsworth while talking about his iconic Thor character in the MCU films said, “Sometimes I felt like a security guard for the team. I would read everyone else’s lines, and go, ‘Oh, they got way cooler stuff. They’re having more fun. What’s my character doing?’ It was always about, ‘You’ve got the wig on. You’ve got the muscles. You’ve got the costume. Where’s the lighting?’”

He also shared about feeling like he is “pretty replaceable.”

The remarks come at a time when both Marvel stars are eager to don their superhero costumes back for the big screen. While Hemsworth feels like he owes another Thor movie after the criticism of Thor: Love and Thunder, Downey also expressed his willingness to play Iron Man again,

It is still uncertain whether the superheroes will return to the franchise, especially after Iron Man’s heroic sacrifice in the Endgame.
