Dhanush has been dominating the theatres of late. All thanks to his latest release, Raayan. The film is Dhanush’s second directorial film. What makes Raayan even more special is that it is his 50th film as an actor. We have some good news for Dhanush fans. Raayan recently created a record by grossing over Rs 150 crore, as per reports. The film, which hit the theatres on July 26, has now entered its 3rd week in the cinemas. On the sixteenth day of Raayan’s release, it reportedly witnessed a high jump of almost 56% jump from the previous day, and grossed 2.15 crore at the box office. Raayan has grossed Rs 75 crore in Tamil Nadu. It is now aiming for Rs 200 crore and beyond. The film is being loved by the audience and critics alike, for its intense and power-packed action sequences.
Raayan’s story revolves around a young man. His family gets killed, after which he sets on a journey of revenge. This leads him to the belly of the criminal underworld. What happens next is the story of this Dhanush-starrer action film. Raayan also stars Selvaraghavan, SJ Suryah, Dushara Vijayan, Aparna Balamurali, Varalaxmi Sarathkumar, and Saravanan.
As per the reports, OTT Platform Sun NXT has bought the OTT rights of Raayan. The film will be reportedly streaming on this platform from the first week of September. A confirmation regarding the same is yet to be received from the film’s makers.
Recently, Dhanush’s sister Dr Karthika Devi shared a gratitude post for the actor. Reason? Her husband, Dr Karthick Anjaneyan – who is a cardiologist by profession — has acted in Raayan.
Her post has gone viral on Instagram, where she shared a photo of her husband, who can be seen donning a police uniform.
Karthika captioned the post: “I was fortunate to witness the magic of D (Dhanush) directing his co-stars on the sets of Raayan and I couldn’t stop admiring how he extracts work from even a doctor like Anjee (Dr Karthick Anjaneyan) (sic).”
