The 2007 Kannada film Chanda featured Duniya Vijay and Shubha Poonja in the lead roles turned out to be an epic blockbuster with S Narayan directing the film. During post-production, the film was surrounded by discussions primarily because the lead actor, Duniya Vijay, did not perform his dubbing, which sparked considerable conversation. Remarkably, the memories of these events are still alive 17 years later.
The director S Narayan is set to collaborate with Duniya Vijay on a new project. Actor Shreyas Manju will also star alongside Duniya Vijay in this upcoming movie. The initial phase of shooting has been completed, with Shreyas Manju’s scenes already done.
Duniya Vijay is set to join the film’s shoot on June 5. While specific details about his character are still under wraps, it is confirmed that Vijay will be collaborating once again with director S Narayan after 17 years.
Currently, the film is referred to simply as ‘Production No-1,’ with no official title announced yet. The cast includes notable names such as Sadhu Kokila, as well as Rangayana Raghu, Tara, Sarath Lohitashwa, Pramod Shetty and Manju Pavagada, among others.
Duniya Vijay began his film career with a role in Yograj Bhat’s Ranga SSLC, opposite Sudeep. After that, he acted in Monalisa, Jogi, Shree and Ee Rajeev Gandhi Alla and also took up roles on television.
The turning point in Vijay’s career came with his friend Soori’s directorial debut Duniya. Vijay played a nice, naive village boy who falls into the hands of underworld crooks who use him as a henchman. He received positive reviews for his acting performance and was awarded the State Award and Filmfare Award for his role in this film.
As an actor, he started his career with small roles until he got his big break in Duniya (2007). He is known for his performances in Chanda (2007), Junglee (2009), Johny Mera Naam Preethi Mera Kaam (2011) and Jayammana Maga (2013).
