Malayalam Film Manjummel Boys Joins Rs 100 Crore Club
The film's remarkable performance in Tamil Nadu alone, raking in over Rs 15 crore, has contributed significantly to its overall box-office success.

The prediction made by music director Sushin Shyam before the release of Manjummel Boys has indeed come true, as the film has not only changed the landscape of Malayalam cinema but has also made waves in the Tamil film industry. This gang of young men from Manjummel in Kochi has rewritten the script of success, propelling the film to join the coveted Rs 100 crore club within just 12 days of its release, marking it as the fastest entry into the club in the history of Mollywood.

Directed by Chidambaram S Poduval, Manjummel Boys has emerged as the biggest success for a Malayalam film in Tamil Nadu since Jana Gana Mana. The film’s remarkable performance in Tamil Nadu alone, raking in over Rs 15 crore, has contributed significantly to its overall box-office success. With a staggering collection of Rs 56 crore from India and over Rs 40 crore from abroad, the film has become a monumental success story.

This survival thriller, set against the backdrop of the Guna Caves issue in Kodaikanal, has resonated strongly with audiences across languages. The incorporation of Kamal Haasan’s iconic song Kanmani Anpodu Kathalan Naan Karirum Katitamai from Guna added to the allure of the film, further enhancing its appeal among viewers.

The film’s reception in Tamil Nadu was nothing short of extraordinary, with packed screenings leading to arrangements for extra shows to accommodate the enthusiastic crowds. Industry stalwarts like Kamal Haasan himself, along with actor-producer Udayanidhi Stalin, and directors Venkat Prabhu, and Pa Ranjith, lauded the film for its cinematic brilliance and engaging narrative.

Manjummel Boys stands out for its simplicity and emotional depth, resonating with audiences on a profound level. Director Pa Ranjith praised the film for its portrayal of genuine emotions and its ability to connect with viewers through its climax song.

Featuring a talented ensemble cast including Soubin Shaheer, Srinath Bhasi, Balu Varghese, and others in lead roles, Manjummel Boys has not only broken conventions of traditional hero-heroine love stories but has also demonstrated that language is no barrier when it comes to appreciating quality cinema.
