Actress Hina Khan, who debuted in Punjabi cinema with the Gippy Grewal-starrer, Shinda Shinda No Papa, has revealed that her character in the film is torn between her husband and son’s dilemma.
Hina plays the role of Gippy’s wife and Shinda Grewal’s mother in the film. The actress told IANS that children can be raised with love and respect by their parents and the film focuses on this message.
Talking about her role, Hina told IANS, “I play the role of Nikki, Shinda’s mother, in the film. Nikki is always torn between her husband and son’s dilemma. She believes that children can be raised with love and respect by their parents. Her core belief in life is to give love and get it back.”
The actress further mentioned that while the comedic element in the film is strong, the film also highlights the relationship between parents and children, with a twist that is eventually brought in by Shinda (Gippy’s son).
“While the film is laugh-out-loud, it also conveys a very strong message to the audience. I am very happy to be a part of a film that highlights the importance of mutual respect between parents and children,” she said.
“Films are a medium to inspire and tell stories that speak to people’s hearts. That’s exactly what we did in this film. We wanted to make you laugh, but at the same time, convey a message that is very important in today’s times. It also shows that parents should and can build a different relationship with their children,” she added.
Directed by Amarpreet GS Chhabra, the film unfolds across Canada and India, focusing on Gopi, a frustrated father who decides to take his mischievous son, Shinda, to India to teach him discipline. However, when Shinda discovers his father’s true intentions, it sparks a conflict between them.
