It’s been nine years since the release of Naanum Rowdy Dhaan, but the Tamil film remains fresh in the minds of many. Directed by Vignesh Shivan, the film features the dynamic duo of Vijay Sethupathi and Nayanthara in the lead roles. Having completed nine years of its release on October 21, 2024, Nayanthara shared a heartfelt note to celebrate the anniversary.
In a long Instagram post, the actress reflected on how the film changed her life, giving her new experiences, new lessons, and new relationships. She also made a special mention of her husband, Vignesh Shivan, in the post.
“A film that came to bless my life and change it forever. 9 years ago on this day Naanum Rowdy Dhan released.. Forever grateful to it for giving me a new love from people, new lessons as a performer, new experiences, new core memories and new relationships. And of course have to thank my man @wikkiofficial for giving me NRD which gave me him. Sharing a collection of images that i’ve been carrying in my phone along with me all these years that constantly remind me of my special film,” Nayanthara wrote in the caption.
In the video, the actress dropped some memorable pictures from the film along with behind-the-scenes glimpses of the cast and crew. Playing in the background is the Neeyum Naanum song from the movie.
Shivan also shared a heartwarming Instagram story to celebrate the milestone. With special mentions to Nayanthara, Dhanush, Vijay Sethupathi, and Anirudh Ravichander, among others, he wrote, “9 years! Since the film that gave me everything.”

Released in October 2015, the film holds a special place for Nayanthara and Vignesh Shivan, considering it serves as the genesis of their love story. After being together for over seven years, they got married in June 2022 and are now proud parents to twin sons.
The Vignesh Shivan directorial remains a fan favourite for its notable narrative along with the music crafted by the very talented Anirudh Ravichander, while the production credits go to Dhanush.
Nayanthara and Sethupathi were last seen together in Shah Rukh Khan’s Jawan.
