The Pachinko author is not the only one to support Suga amid the ongoing investigation. Adding to the support is PSY, the iconic South Korean singer-songwriter who collaborated with him on the summer hit That That.

BTS’ Suga is not only a beloved figure among fans but also within the celebrity circle. Amid his current DUI controversy, the K-pop rapper has seen an outpouring of support from various entertainment industry figures. The latest to publicly stand by him is none other than Min Jin Lee, a Korean American author and journalist based in Harlem, New York City. She is particularly known for her books Free Food for Millionaires and Pachinko. The latter has been adapted into a popular K-drama on Apple TV+, featuring popular actors such as Lee Min-ho, Kim Min-ha and Youn Yuh-jung. She recently shared a photo of Suga on her Instagram, accompanied by a purple heart – a symbol often associated with BTS.

In response to this, Pachinko actress Park Sohee also shared the sentiment by commenting with a purple heart, resonating with what many fans are feeling.

Other fans of the idol have also taken to the comments to support him. “We all make mistakes,” read a comment. “Thanks for supporting him. Army appreciates you so much,” read another comment. Many others have dropped purple heart emojis to display their solidarity with Suga.

The Pachinko author is not the only one to show support for Suga amid the ongoing investigation and controversy. Adding to the support is PSY, the iconic South Korean singer-songwriter who collaborated with Suga on the summer hit That That. As he wrapped up his 2024 Summer Swag concert series at Suwon World Cup Stadium on August 25, PSY took a moment before performing That That to give a special shoutout to Suga, leading to an eruption of cheers from the audience. “I’m incredibly thankful to Suga for creating and singing this song with me,” PSY told the crowd.

Apart from PSY and Min Jin Lee, many others have shown their support for Suga during this challenging time. Other notable names include actress Park Sohee, Mui Sakamoto— the daughter of the legendary composer Ryuichi Sakamoto and Cobra Kai actress Alicia Hannah Kim, who reportedly posted ‘Protect Min Yoongi’ on her Instagram story. Additionally, author Alexander Chee, who had attended the Met Gala alongside BTS in 2021, also voiced his support, saying, “Suga!!! We are with you.”

The South Korean rapper is currently under investigation after being caught drunk driving an electric scooter earlier this month. The incident, which took place near the Nine One Hannam apartments in Seoul, was captured on CCTV. When the police arrived at the scene, they detected alcohol on Suga, with a breathalyzer test revealing a BAC of 0.227%, significantly exceeding South Korea’s legal limit.
