Hollywood actress and two-time Oscar winner Renee Zellweger is all set to return to one of her beloved characters for Universal Pictures’ next, Bridget Jones 4. An adaptation of Helen Fielding’s best-selling novel, the film titled Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy will be directed by Michael Morris. Besides Zellweger, the film will also bring actors Hugh Jackman and Emma Thompson back to the franchise alongside some interesting new entries.

While Renee Zellweger will reprise her role as the lovable and clumsy Bridget Jones, Hugh Jackman will be back as the charming Daniel Cleaver. On the other hand, Emma Thompson who joined the franchise with the third Bridget Jones film will also return this time. Meanwhile, Chiwetel Ejiofor and Leo Woodall have been also roped in for the fourth film. However, Colin Firth will not be returning this time.
Bridget Jones 4: Release Date
The fourth film in the franchise, Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy will release on Valentine’s Day 2025 internationally on OTT and will also mark a theatrical release.
Bridget Jones: Mad About The Boy Storyline
Going by Fielding’s bestselling novel, the film follows the story of Bridget Jones navigating her life as a 51-year-old single mother and widow while exploring the theme of love, family, and challenges of modern life, especially in the age of social media and dating.
Known for his work in films like To Leslie and Better Call Saul Leslie, Michael Morris will take on the director’s seat while Fielding will pen the script. It will be released on Peacock on Valentine’s Day 2025 along with a theatrical release internationally.
In the meantime, the film will be produced by Tim Bevan, Eric Fellner, and Jo Wallett under the banner of Working Title Films. While Amelia Granger and Sarah-Jane Wright will be executive producers alongside Helen Fielding.
The first and third Bridget Jones films were directed by Sharon Maguire while the second one was directed by Beeban Kidron.
