After one exhibition, a trip to Hawaii and other rumours, K-pop celebrities Han So-hee and Ryu Jun Yeol found themselves in the spotlight facing intense scrutiny. The public admission of their relationship did not come without drama, as Ryu Jun Yeol’s former romantic partner, Lee Hye-ri, was also thrust into the media frenzy. Fast-forward to the most recent development: Ryu Jun Yeol has finally addressed the controversies for the first time.
During a press conference for Netflix’s The 8 Show held at a Seoul hotel, Ryu Jun Yeol was questioned if he believed it was right to remain silent about the public rumours about his relationship and eventual breakup with Han So Hee and if it was his duty as a prominent actor to address these matters.
The Reply 1988 actor was quoted by The Korea Times stating, “Rather than try to correct the misinformation about my personal life that was being uploaded to social media, I felt that it was best to stay silent and endure the criticism.”
He further stated that doing his best involved facing criticism rather than explaining his stance in detail, as he believed discussing personal matters could “harm” his colleagues.
When questioned about his other scandal-related issues, Ryu Jun-Yeol acknowledged knowing about them but agreed to do a separate interview on the subject at a later date. He claimed that it provided him with an “opportunity” to “self-reflect”.
The actor went on to say that since his debut, it has been his most difficult period. He added, “Since it’s a personal matter, I believe there will be another opportunity to discuss this in an appropriate setting,” according to The Korea Times.
Actor, photographer, activist, and member of the K-pop group Girl’s Day Lee Hye-ri unfollowed actor, activist, and television personality Ryu Jun-yeol on Instagram on March 15. Following their initial encounter on the sets of the popular Korean drama Reply 1988 in 2017, the two were known as the power couple in the industry.
But 7 years later, in November 2023, they announced their separation while keeping the specifics of their relationship under wraps.
The Nevertheless actress Han So-hee, who had previously been linked to BTS Jungkook after appearing in the sensual music video for the song Seven, was reported to be dating Ryu Jun-yeol.
A heated Instagram discussion and a joint Hawaiian trip fueled these allegations, which were eventually confirmed by their respective agencies.
