Sumanth Ashwin is a prominent face in the Telugu film industry. He is the son of the famous film producer and director MS Raju. While this remains debatable, he comes from a filmy background with a famous director-producer for his father– MS Raju. It was MS Raju who launched his son into the industry. Sumanth Ashwin marked his debut in the industry with the film Tuneega Tuneega in 2012, directed by his father. The film earned the debutante the CineMAA Awards Best Male Debut. The film also starred Rhea Chakraborty and is backed by Maganti Ramji under the Padmini Arts banner. The film bombed at the box office. It was his second film Anthaka Mundu Aa Tarvatha which was successful at the box office and paved the path for his first commercial break with Harinath’s Lovers. He was finally able to prove his mettle and carved a niche for himself in the industry.
His fourth film, Chakkiligintha was helmed by director Sukumar’s associates, Vema Reddy. MS Raju had planned to remake the film in Kannada and cast his son as the lead actor. But the remake rights for the Kannada film were sold before the Telugu release. Apart from this, he has worked in other films like Anthaka Mundu Aa Tarvatha, Kerintha and Columbus and Happy Wedding. He was last seen in the 2022 film, 7 Days 6 Nights.
