Vikram’s highly anticipated film Thangalaan has finally hit theatres worldwide on August 15. It is directed by Pa Ranjith and stars Malavika Mohanan, Parvathy Thiruvothu and Daniel Caltagirone in the lead roles. It is produced by KE Gnanavel Raja under the banner of Studio Green and Neelam Productions. The film had an opening of Rs 13.3 crore at the box office. In the subsequent days, Vikram’s Thangalaan collected Rs 4.75 crore on Friday. On the weekend, the film did the business of Rs 11.40 crore at the domestic box office.
After four days, including the first Monday, the film’s worldwide collection stood at Rs 45.50 crore, as per Sacnilk. On the fourth day, the film saw a surge in collection and garnered Rs 5.75 crore at the box office. Thangalaan had an overall 40.63 per cent Tamil Occupancy on Sunday.
As per Sacnilk, on day 5, the film collection maintained a steady pace. Thangalaan collected Rs 2.45 crore. It can be called a clear indication of the arrival of Monday. Tamil Nadu viewers contributed the most with Rs 1.7 crore. After five days, the worldwide collection of the film stands at Rs 48.50 crore at the box office. The film is set to enter the Rs 50 crore club this week, as per the ongoing trend. Thangalaan had an overall 18.47 per cent Tamil occupancy on Monday, August 19.
The film’s night show reigned supreme in terms of viewers at 22.41 per cent followed by afternoon shows at 19.21 per cent, evening shows at 18.50 and morning shows at 13.77 per cent. Thangalaan had an overall 20.67% Telugu Occupancy on Monday, August 19, 2024. The film is made with a budget of approximately Rs 100 crore.
According to the Times of India, the director Pa Ranjith’s remuneration fee for Thangalaan was Rs 10 crore. This hefty sum indicates the high budget of the film. Sampath Ram, who grabbed the attention of the fans with his role as Kaadaiyan’s aide, has received Rs 20 lakh for periodic drama. GV Prakash Kumar, the music composer, received Rs 3 crore.
