Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery Completes Filming, Here's What We Know

In just two months, Netflix’s Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery has wrapped up its primary filming. On Saturday, director Rian Johnson announced that filming for Wake Up Dead Man has officially concluded, moving it into the post-production phase as it gears up for release next year. The film reportedly started shooting on June 10. As with the previous two films in the franchise, Wake Up Dead Man remains wrapped in secrecy, with only a few details available about its plot other than it being a murder mystery. However, the film does promise an impressive cast, including the return of Daniel Craig as detective Benoit Blanc.

“Aaaand that’s a wrap on Wake Up Dead Man. Went so fast! Best crew, incredible cast, this was a really special shoot and I cannot wait to put it together,” filmmaker Rian Johnson shared on X on August 17. He also shared a black-and-white image with a sign that read, “Please be mindful of graves.”

“I love everything about whodunnits, but one of the things I love most is how malleable the genre is. There’s a whole tonal spectrum from Carr to Christie, and getting to explore that range is one of the most exciting things about making Benoit Blanc movies,” Johnson told Comicbook when he first discussed Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery. “We’re about to go into production on the 3rd one, and I’m very, very excited to share the title, which gives a little hint of where it’s going,” he added.

Before this too, Johnson had shared updates from the sets of the upcoming film on social media. “Aaaaand we’re off! Today is day 1 of shooting on the next Benoit Blanc mystery Wake Up Dead Man – see you on the other side,” Johnson noted in an X post on June 10.

Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery will see Daniel Craig reprising his role as the sharp-witted Detective Benoit Blanc. The first two movies of the franchise are namely Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery (2022) and Knives Out (2019). Other key cast in the third installment includes new members Josh O’Connor, Cailee Spaeny, Andrew Scott, Kerry Washington, Glenn Close, Josh Brolin, Thomas Haden Church, Josh Brolin, Mila Kunis, Jeremy Renner, Daryl McCormack and Thomas Haden Church. As of now, the film’s release date has not been officially confirmed.
