When Justin Timberlake Thought Matthew Lawrence Was 'So Mean'
In a podcast, Matthew Lawrence, who claims to be a huge fan of Justin Timberlake, revealed why the singer disliked him.

Matthew Lawrence recalled the time when he came across Justin Timberlake and the singer left him in shock after expressing what he felt about the Mrs. Doubtfire actor. It was when Lawrence graced the recent episode of the rewatch podcast Pod Meets World, along with Danielle Fishel, Will Friedle and Rider Strong. During one segment of the episode, Lawrence opened up about the time he met Justin Timberlake, of whom he claims to be a huge fan.

Matthew Lawrence’s revelation suggests that the male cast members of Boy Meets World shared discomfort with the boy band NSYNC when they visited the set of the 90s sitcom. For context, Boy Meets World featured Danielle Fishel in the role of Topanga Lawrence, Matthew Lawrence as Jack Hunter, Rider Strong in the role of Shawn Hunter and Will Friedle as Eric Matthews.

The Hot Chick star recalled, “I don’t know if you guys remember this but when NSYNC kept coming over to the set?” He then continued to open up about a surprising encounter with Timberlake. Lawrence mentioned that it was around the time when Timberlake stepped into his solo musical career and released his debut album Justified in 2002 that the former went on to share his good wishes to the singer. But Timberlake openly expressed to the actor that he didn’t like him.

Lawrence, a huge fan of Timberlake, was taken aback by his behaviour and stated, “I found out years later when I bumped into Justin (Timberlake) that he thought I was not very nice. He didn’t like me. And he flat out told me to my face.” “He was like, ‘Oh, yeah. Yeah, now you wanna be friends with me? You were so mean on the set.’,” he added.

Further, the actor recalled what had actually happened as he couldn’t remember any tension between him and Timberlake. Lawrence mentioned that he was very shy on the set as he had a crush on Danielle Fishel back then, on whom the members of the band boys kept hitting when they visited the set of the sitcom. “I was super shy. And also, I had, you know, kind of a crush on Danielle. And these guys kept rolling up on set, trying to hit on her!” Lawrence admitted.

Strong also affirmed Lawrence’s claims and mentioned, “They were just orbiting around Danielle in a constant circle.” “I was wondering if you were gonna say it. I also know why he was probably a little standoffish,” joked Fishel.
