When Shilpa Shirodkar Spoke About Her Bond With Mom: 'She Never Treated Me and Namrata Shirodkar...'

Shilpa Shirodkar is currently participating in Bigg Boss 18. The actress was a popular 1990s star before she decided to retire from Bollywood. Her sister Namrata Shirodkar also followed her footsteps into the industry at the time. While the Shirodkar sisters were popular, Shilpa once revealed their mother did not let their fame and popularity enter their household. She revealed her late mother treated them like regular family members despite their success in Bollywood.

“My mom never treated me and Chimoos (her sister Namrata Shirodkar) as stars at home. She maintained that we wouldn’t be acting forever. She told us about marriage and motherhood. And all that has stayed with me,” Shilpa Shirodkar told Mumbai Mirror in 2011.

In the recent episode of Bigg Boss 18, Shilpa opened up about her late mother again. She said, “When my parents passed away in 2008, I went into severe depression. Aparesh was doing so well in his career, but he left everything, and we moved to India.” Visibly emotional, she added that had Aparesh not made that sacrifice, his career in the banking industry could have reached greater heights.

This year, she is starring in Bigg Boss 18. Although Namrata and Mahesh Babu are yet to publicly react to her participation, Shilpa recently told The Times of India that they are excited for her.

“(Namrata and Mahesh) are very happy for me. They are very proud of me and they just know that whatever I do, I’ll do it myself. I know I’m going to make them very proud. As a family, we are a very close-knit family. They are very supportive of me,” Shilpa Shirodkar said.

For the unversed, Shilpa has acted in several films and television shows, including Silsila Pyaar Ka and Savitri Devi College & Hospital. Her return to Indian TV via Bigg Boss 18 marks a significant comeback after years spent away from the limelight. Meanwhile, her sister Namrata Shirodkar and brother-in-law Mahesh Babu have expressed their happiness and pride in her decision to join the show.
