Wizards Of Waverly Place Sequel: Selena Gomez Reveals First Look Posters

Selena Gomez and David Henrie are all set to return as the chaotic siblings duo, Alex and Justin, in the sequel to Wizards of Waverly Place. Months after Disney Channel officially confirmed that another installment was on the way, a new title has been finally revealed. During Disney’s 2024 upfront presentation, Selena Gomez announced that the upcoming sequel series will be titled Wizards Beyond Waverly Place. Apart from that, the channel also dropped a few first-look pictures of Alex and Justin, along with the new Russo family members.

Notably, the fantasy series had a successful run of four seasons from 2007 to 2012, including a television movie and a standalone continuation in 2013. While Selena’s Alex Russo plays the leading character, the older Russo sibling Justin also becomes a part of the family’s twists and turns.

First look at the Wizards of Waverly Place sequel

The new set photos dropped during the May 14 appearance at Disney upfront include a shot of the Rare Beauty founder’s Alex Russo posing with Henrie’s Justin Russo holding their magic wands.

In another shot, the on-screen siblings smiled for the camera as they sat around a breakfast table along with some new members, Mimi Gianopulos, Alkaio Thiele and Max Matenko.

During this time, a few details were also shared about the sequel’s plot, which would begin with Justin living a normal, mortal life with his wife Giada and kids Roman and Milo. However, when Alex decides to bring her daughter Billie (Janice LeAnn Brown) to his house “seeking help,” Justin must dust off his magical skills to mentor the wizard-in-training while also balancing his every responsibility and protecting the future of the Wizard World.

The Wizards of Waverly Place Sequel Plot

Going by the end of the original Wizards of Waverly Place, it concluded by confirming that the Russo children would inherit their family’s magic. While Alex became the Family Wizard, he eventually gave up the title to his sister Alex and continued practicing magic in the WizTech headmaster position. The sequel’s events are expected to take place years after Justin started his own family and was brought back to the fold by Alex.

In the meantime, while Selena will reprise her OG role, she will also be involved as the executive producer alongside David and Gary Marsh. Wizards Beyond Waverly Place is likely to premiere later this year.
