The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Wednesday summoned Hindi film actor Ranbir Kapoor on Friday as part of its investigation into the Mahadev online betting app scam, in which four people have been arrested from Chhattisgarh. News18 had previously also reported that as many as 17 Bollywood celebrities have come under the scanner in connection with the case. These include Ranbir Kapoor, Huma Qureshi, Shraddha Kapoor, Tiger Shroff, and Sonakshi Sinha, among others. They are under the scanner for attending or performing at Chandrakar’s wedding in February this year and the company’s success party in September last year.
Kangana Ranaut has now taken to Instagram Stories to comment on it. The actress, known for her controversial remarks, wrote, “This endorsement came to me almost 6 times over a span of one year, every time they added several crores to the offer to buy me but I said NO each time, look anymore, yeh integrity is not good just for your conscience anymore, yeh naya Baharat hai, sudhar jao nahi toh sudhar diye jaoge (sic). She added a laugh emoji and Indian Flag emojis with the comment.
The company promoted by Sourabh Chandrakar and Ravi Uppal was being operated from Dubai. It was allegedly using the online book betting application to enrol new users, create IDs and launder money through a layered web of benami bank accounts.
Ranbir Kapoor’s team has responded to the summons issued by the Enforcement Directorate, News18 exclusively learnt. The Bollywood actor was summoned in connection with the Mahadev money-laundering case. News18 learned that the actor’s team has reached out to ED and requested them two weeks time to appear before the team.
