Karan Johar BREAKS Silence About Leaving Twiter, Says 'I Started Reading Abuse to My Children'
Karan Johar opened up about the real reason behind leaving Twitter, now known as the social media platform X.

Filmmaker Karan Johar finally opened up about leaving Twitter, now known as X. The Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani director left the social media platform last October. At the time, he said he was leaving the platform to make ‘space for more positive energies.’ In a new interview, Karan shared the real reason he left it was because he began reading abusive messages about his children, Yash and Roohi.

Speaking with Mid-Day, Karan said that he was letting abuses towards him slide. He was ready to turn a blind eye towards the nasty messages mentioning his mother. However, he couldn’t tolerate that his children were dragged online. When he left the platform, Yash and Roohi were only five years old.

“That (quitting Twitter) was an instinctive decision I made when I started reading abuse to my children. When that happened… this is the lowest you could get. Abuse me, say what you want. They also abused my mother. My mother is still an older person. My children were five at that time, when I took the decision. Now, I’m not going back on this platform for anything. Of course, my company is on it. I realise the importance of Twitter. But I don’t want to be on this platform. I don’t want to read anything about my children. That breaks my heart not only as a parent, but also as a human being,” he said.

He clarified that his exit had nothing to do with the allegations of nepotism. “It’s not that I’ve stopped casting people from the industry. Or I’ve isolated myself from the sheer wonderful-ness of Alia Bhatt. I have not listened to anyone. I’ve just left a platform. That had nothing to do with the things I was saying. It was about my kids. I couldn’t read that. Whoever is a parent would know that is something you wouldn’t take. You’d take anything, but anything against your child, you can’t take. And I don’t know who to fight, right? They’re nameless, faceless people. I’d rather just exit,” he said.

On the work front, Karan was last seen helming Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani. The film released in July and surpassed the Rs 150 mark at the box office in India. The filmmaker had previously announced that he would be directing an action movie after Rocky Aur Rani. However, he is yet to share an update about it.
