Leo: Madras High Court Denies 4 AM Screening Plea For Thalapathy Vijay's Film
Madras High Court has left the matter in the hands of the Tamil Nadu government if they want to reconsider.

Thalapathy Vijay’s Leo is one of the most anticipated films of the year. As the film is about to release on October 19, makers have failed to secure early morning shows in Tamil Nadu. As such, K Ramachandran, Authorised Signatory of Seven Screen Studios, moved the Madras High Court so that the film could secure 4 am shows in the state. However, as per the latest reports, the High Court has denied granting this request.

The makers of Leo had on October 16 requested for 4 am shows in the state for the first six days of the film’s release, taking the daily show count to six. However, Tamil Nadu’s government only granted them five shows, with the earliest beginning at 9 am. The honourable Madras High Court judge Anita Sumanth, who presided over the case on Tuesday, October 17, has left the matter in the hands of the Tamil Nadu government, in case they would like to reconsider the earliest show timing to be 7 am. Makers of the film and members of the Tamil Nadu Theatre Association will appear before the court later on Tuesday to further discuss the issue.

Earlier, The Indian Express had quoted K Ramachandran’s petition in their report. The petition read, “I submit that adhering to the regulation I had submitted a representation letter dated 15 Sep 2023 to the Principal Secretary to Government, the Hon’ble Minister, and the Hon’ble Chief Minister requesting permission to screen 6 shows on the opening day and 5 shows from 20th October to 24th October 2023. On the opening day ie., 19.10.2023 the 1st show has been planned to be screened at 4 am to cater for the insatiable desire of the hard-core fans and from 7 am onwards from 20.10.2023.”

“To cater for the unusual demand of viewership the states of Kerala and Karnataka have permitted an early morning timing extension from 4’o clock. In line with the neighbouring states, I had requested the same special show timings from 4 a.m. for the theatres in Tamil Nadu to manage overcrowding and fanfare on 19.10.2023,” the petition further read.

Leo is an action thriller which also stars Trisha Krishnan, Arjun Sarja, Gautham Menon, Mysskin and Priya Anand in pivotal roles. The film also features Bollywood actor Sanjay Dutt. Rathna Kumar and Deeraj Vaidy co-wrote the script with Lokesh Kanagaraj. The music for the film is composed by Anirudh Ravichander and its cinematography and editing have been handled by Manoj Paramahamsa and Philomin Raj, respectively.
