In another case of a technical glitch, an Air India flight going to London was diverted back to Mumbai after a reported failure in its left engine.

The flight number was AI131, it was going to London from Mumbai when some glitches were reported in the left engine.

This comes hours after a Delhi-bound Indigo flight made an emergency landing at the airport after one of its engines became inoperative, an official said.

The aircraft with 181 passengers and eight crew members on board made the landing shortly after taking off from the Jay Prakash Narayan International Airport.

“The aircraft returned to its origin due to a technical issue. Three minutes after its departure, the pilot reported one engine inoperative. The aircraft landed safely at 9.11 am. As per the pilot, no further assistance was required. All operations are normal here,” the airport official said.

Lately, several reports of technical glitches in Air India crafts have been making rounds.

On August 2, an Air India Express flight from Kochi to Sharjah made a precautionary landing at the airport after a passenger reported a suspected burning smell shortly after takeoff.

According to the source, soon after the takeoff of the aircraft from the Cochin International Airport, a guest reported some kind of suspected burning smell

Last month an Air India flight from Delhi to San Francisco was diverted to Russia after the aircraft reported a technical glitch in one of its engines.

The flight with 216 passengers and 16 crew members, which took off from Delhi landed safely at Russia’s Magadan airport hours later.

This is a developing story.
