Nimrat Kaur Says She Liked Animal in Parts but Was Scared to Talk About It: 'I Was Anxious About...'
Nimrat Kaur shared her thoughts Ranbir Kapoor's controversial film, Animal. She said she enjoyed the film in parts.

Nimrat Kaur opened up about the controversial film Animal and admitted that she liked the film in parts. In a recent roundtable, the Lunchbox star said that the film watched the film to understand the chatter around it and said that the Ranbir Kapoor starrer worked for her in parts. However, she added she was scared to talk about it on social media. Th actress said that she was worried her thoughts would be misinterpreted thus she chose to remain quiet.

“I find this culture of anxiety about liking or not liking something a lot of pressure. It’s okay to not like something and it’s also okay to hate or like or dislike or like parts of it — Did I hate it all? I did not. Did I enjoy set pieces which were highly charged with background score and action sequences which calls up to my Jatti blood (yes). I’ll be honest, when there were those Range Rovers driving into the Punjab da pind and all, I was like yes brothers! Let’s go for it, I don’t know what you’re fighting for but I’m with you,” she said, speaking about Animal during a roundtable with Bollywood Hungama.

“I was scared about what do I write, if I should write, should I not write. I decided to keep quite because you never know how it is interpret it. So I was also anxious about it. I feel it is okay to enjoy something in bits,” Nimrat confessed. “It is a separate matter as an actor if I would make that choice (to sign such a movie). If I were in that film, I would give you an opinion about why I did it, what I agree with, what I don’t agree with,” she added.

Nimrat further explained that one doesn’t need to agree with subjects that entertain you. “In life, there are many things that entertain us in different capacities, we don’t have to agree with it. Everything that entertains you, you don’t have to agree with it. It doesn’t have to confirn to a moral canvas that also keeps changing. My moral canvas, my ethic code is not what I live by today as compared to 15 years back. So if my personal opinion and my personal life and what I live by keeps changing, how can I decide for a unit of 350 people who have chosen to be a part of something which is bringing people to the theatres, creating business,” she said.

The Dasvi star added that for her, a movie should be entertaining and worth her time at the theatre. She doesn’t want to regret paying for the tickets and spending time in a movie hall. She added that Animal entertained her in different parts and had her hooked until the last scene.
