After working with Atlee for Shah Rukh Khan’s superhit blockbuster film Jawan, actress Sanya Malhotra is now reportedly collaborating with the director again for his upcoming film with Varun Dhawan. It was earlier reported that Varun Dhawan will be collaborating with Atlee for the film temporarily titled VD 18 with Keerthy Suresh and Wamiqa Gabbi in the lead. Now, reports are claiming that the Jawan actress has also joined the cast.
According to Pinkvilla, Sanya will appear in the film for a cameo. The actress will reportedly have a crucial role in the film, important to the storyline. The report quoted a source as saying, “Sanya readily accepted Atlee’s request for a cameo. She had a wonderful experience working with him on Jawan, and no way could she turn down his offer. This cameo is her way of showing gratitude to Atlee for giving her a blockbuster like Jawan. She shot for her brief sequence with Varun in Bandra earlier this month.”
VD 18 will reportedly be an action entertainer driven by emotions. The report states that Varun will play a police officer in the film, who goes into hiding to protect his daughter. Keerthy Suresh will play the role of Varun’s wife in the film. Rajpal Yadav and Sheeba Chadha will also reportedly have important roles in the film. The film will be directed by Tamil filmmaker Kalees while Priya Atlee and Murad Khetani will produce the film. Atlee is the film’s presenter.
The report also claims that Varun Dhawan will finish shooting for the film in February 2024. The film will reportedly be released around May 31, 2024. After VD 18, Varun will begin shooting for his next film, his fourth collaboration with his father, director David Dhawan. They have previously collaborated on Main Tera Hero, Judwa 2 and Coolie No. 1. He will next be seen in Raj and DK’s Citadel India.
