Shabana Azmi Shares Happy Pic From 'Betu' Farhan Akhtar's Birthday Bash; Javed Akhtar, Zoya Join In

Farhan Akhtar is celebrating his 50th birthday today. The actor, writer, and filmmaker received the warmest birthday wish from Shabana Azmi. She shared a happy photo from the birthday party, which was attended by his nearest and dearest ones. She also penned a heartwarming note that read, “Salgirah mubarak betu #FarhanAkhtar. Jeete raho khush raho bahut saara pyar ❤️❤️.”

The birthday party photo also featured Farhan’s sister, Zoya Akhtar, and dad, Javed. Wife Shibani Dandekar and Farhan’s mom, Honey Irani, also joined them. All of them donned their brightest smiles.

Earlier last year, in an interview with Filmfare, Shabana opened up about her equation with Farhan Akhtar and Zoya, kids of Javed Akhtar from his first marriage with Honey Irani. The actress said she has a friendly relationship with them, and it is because of their mother.

Shabana said that they all share a great bond. “We are very friendly. I have a great relationship with them based on friendship and trust. I value Farhan and Zoya very much, and I think they value me. I think a lot of that credit goes to their mom, Honey (Irani). I must say that she was very generous. If she had decided that the kids would not be friends with me, then they couldn’t have been friends with me.”

However, the actress also said that she does not poke her nose in their business. “So, I have to accept in all honesty that I owe it to Honey that I have such a beautiful relationship not only with her children but also with her. We have a beautiful, happy bond. And I don’t poke my nose in their business. If I feel there is something they would rather not talk about, I do not talk about it,” she was quoted saying in the interview.

Meanwhile, on the work front, Shabana Azmi was last seen in the hit film Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani with Dharmendra, Alia Bhatt, and Ranveer Singh.

Farhan, on the other hand, is back in his directorial chair with one of the most anticipated and big projects, Don 3. The film will see Ranveer Singh taking the Don reboot franchise forward after Shah Rukh Khan played the beloved character in the previous two installments of the franchise. Fans of the franchise had mixed responses about the casting. While some held that there could not be a Don film without Shah Rukh, others pointed out that Shah Rukh had also faced similar criticism when he took on the role after Amitabh Bachchan and ended up nailing the character.
