Ranbir Kapoor is gearing up for the release of his next film, Animal. Directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga, the film comprises a stellar star cast including Rashmika Mandanna, Anil Kapoor and Bobby Deol among others. Animal is one of the most talked about films of the year, thanks to its gripping storyline and intense music. However, it is set to clash with Vicky Kaushal’s Sam Bahadur at the box office.
Speaking to The Indian Express, Vicky expressed his opinion about the clash via a sports analogy. He said, “When two opening batsmen come to the crease, playing for the same team, you won’t say that the two batsmen are clashing with each other; they are playing for a single team, so we are playing for Hindi cinema.”
Vicky added that while one batsman scores big hits, the other scoring strategic singles while maintaining the strike is also important. When asked about which film will score this big hit, Vicky said, “The audience will decide.”
Meanwhile, the advance bookings for Animal opened on Saturday, November 25. According to Sacnilk, an industry tracker, the film sold a total of 2,09,986 tickets across 6,036 shows, earning an impressive revenue of Rs 6.42 crore. The Hindi version sold 1,76,192 tickets, bringing in Rs 5.87 crore. The Telugu version contributed 33,453 tickets (Rs 54 lakh), and the Tamil version sold 341 tickets (Rs 32,740). Delhi and Telangana made the highest contributions to the advance bookings, recording Rs 1.51 crore and Rs 1.23 crore, respectively.
As it prepares to face off against Meghna Gulzar’s Sam Bahadur, a biographical war drama depicting the life of India’s first Field Marshal, Sam Manekshaw, Ranbir’s film has a considerable lead over Vicky Kaushal’s movie. The latter has seen limited success in advance bookings, with fewer than 15,000 tickets sold so far.
Sam Bahadur explores the life of Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw, emphasising his sacrifices for the nation. The film pays a heartfelt tribute to his unwavering bravery and sharp wit. For the unversed, Sam Manekshawan’s career in the army spanned over four decades and five wars. He was the first Indian Army officer to be promoted to the rank of Field Marshal and his military victory in the 1971 Indo-Pak war led to the creation of Bangladesh.
