When Arijit Singh Texted Salman Khan After 2014 Award Show Feud: 'He Replied Saying I Shouldn't...'
Salman Khan and Arijit Singh had a fall out at an awards show in 2014. Salman kept his distance from Arijit until this year, when the singer sang for Tiger 3.

Salman Khan has buried his hatchet with Arijit Singh after nine years. The singer finally managed to sing the song Prabhu Leke Ka Naam for Tiger 3, lending his voice to Salman. While fans celebrated that they have ended their feud, Arijit had previously revealed he made several attempts to apologise to Salman. One of his first attempts was a few hours after the infamous awards show where their fall out took place.

For the unversed, Arijit and Salman’s fall out happened in 2014 after Salman noticed Arijit slept in the crowd. The singer tried to tease Salman by saying that his and Riteish Deshmukh’s hosting put him to sleep, the comemnt did not go down well. To make things worst, Arijit walked on stage wearing a pair of chappals and casual outfit to recieve his award, which Salman disapproved. The final nail in the fall out was when Salman noticed Arijit walking towards the exit and presumed that he was leaving soon after receiving his award.

Two years after the fall out, in an interview with IANS, Arijit finally shared his side of the story and said that he fell asleep at the awards show because he was tired due to work. He revealed he was working on a song for Pritam and was tired. He also confessed he instantly regretted his cheeky comment about Salman’s hosting and even whispered his apology in his ear.

“I was on my seat and very tired. So I dozed off. As you know, these award functions go on for hours. When my name was announced for the award, someone had to wake me up. I know it was wrong. But I was tired and I dozed off,” he said. “While I was walking up to the stage, they started capturing my images in my chappals and casuals. On stage, Salman Khan was laughing in disbelief saying, ‘Tu hai winner’ (You’re the winner)? When I got on stage, he asked me if I had fallen asleep. In my nervousness I blurted out, ‘Aap logon ne sula dia’ (you all put me to sleep). I immediately bit my tongue,” he added.

Arijit said he immediately apologised. “When he handed me the award, I whispered ‘sorry’ into his ear. I couldn’t say more there. When I came down from the stage, I couldn’t find my seat. So I just started walking away. Salman sir saw that and commented, ‘Look at this guy. He has collected his award in chappals and now he’s walking away.’ I got really scared and didn’t know what to do,” he said.

“That night when I was in my flight, I kept thinking about the incident and felt sorry about it. When I reached Kolkata, I texted him. He texted me back saying I shouldn’t have gone so casually and I shouldn’t disrespect awards. I was happy that he rebuked me as a senior and that he had got the anger out of his system. I didn’t know he was still angry,” he said in 2016. Fortunately, all this is a part of the past now and Salman has moved on from the incident.
