This one is sung by national award-winner Punjabi singer B Praak and has music and lyrics by a young Punjabi lyricist, Jaani. Praak and Jaani have partnered for many Punjabi super-hits earlier – in fact, almost every recent Punjabi movie features a song by them.

The success of both songs, with them trending on Instagram reels and YouTube, reinforces Bollywood’s love affair with Punjabi music and why the Hindi film industry simply cannot do without the spunk of Punjabi numbers.

Babbal has been a known face in the Punjabi folk music industry, living a modest life in Kurali in Punjab near Chandigarh. The veteran singer has showcased the state’s culture in his earlier work. The ‘Arjan Vaillay’ song in his powerful and impactful voice depicts the violence and intensity depicted by Ranbir on screen.

Babbal has written the lyrics of the song too, which mean the use of a sickle or an axe against one’s opponents in a fight by Punjabi Jats. The same has been depicted on screen with Ranbir shown in a bloody fight with a gang of men wielding an axe.

The song has brought Babbal’s voice into the national spotlight with other filmmakers looking at him for collaboration in the future, those close to Babbal have told News18.

Praak-Jaani Partnership

B Praak came into the spotlight in 2021 when he won the national award for his patriotic number ‘Teri Matti Mein Mil Javan’ in the Akshay Kumar-starrer ‘Kesari’ which was released in 2019.

Praak and Jaani have been collaborating on songs for many years, with their biggest hit being a Punjabi number ‘Mann Bharrya’ which was released six years ago and has a whopping 350 million views on YouTube. Praak sang the song while Jaani penned the lyrics.

This same song was recreated by Praak and Jaani for the Sidharth-Kiara Adani starred hit movie ‘Shershaah’ two years ago and that too notched nearly 250 million views. Jaani in fact is the most sought-after Punjabi lyricist, and he has penned numerous super-hit Punjabi numbers sung by the likes of Ammy Virk and Harry Sandhu.
