CBI Probe to Be Ordered Into Killing of Haryana INLD Chief; Shooters Told His Nephew, 'Sparing Your Life'
On the basis of Rajesh's complaint, police have registered a case of murder against seven people, including BJP leader and former legislator Naresh Kaushik

The Haryana government will order a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe into the killing of Haryana Indian National Lok Dal (INLD)chief Nafe Singh Rathee, Home Minister Anil Vij assured the state assembly, news agency PTI reported.

“If the House is only satisfied with a CBI probe, then I assure the members that we will hand over the case to the CBI,” Vij said in the Assembly. Earlier in the day, the Speaker admitted an adjournment motion on law and order as the opposition Congress raised the issue of Rathee’s murder and demanded a probe into the incident either by a high court judge or a high court judge-monitored CBI investigation.

Soon after the Question Hour, Congress members raised the issue and demanded a discussion on law and order.

‘Sparing Your Life’: Haryana INLD Chief’s Killers Told His Nephew

Meanwhile, the nephew of Nafe Singh Rathee, who was at the wheel when the INLD Haryana chief was gunned down on Sunday near a Railway crossing in Haryana’s Jhajjar district, told police that one of the shooters told him they were “sparing his life”, reported NDTV.

The slain Haryana politician’s nephew, Rajesh, told police in his complaint that Rathee, his maternal uncle, was sitting in the front left seat, right next to him, in the Toyota Fortuner SUV when the incident took place. He added that the rear seat was occupied by a gunner posted in the 66-year-old INLD leader’s security and a party colleague, Jaikishan Dalal.

Rajesh said their SUV was waiting at the Barahi railway crossing on the way to Bahadurgarh when a car stopped behind it. Five men approached the SUV and fired at least 20 rounds, Rajesh added.

He told police that one of the shooters, who killers also shod dead one of Rathee’s aides and injured others, told him, “Tujhe zinda chor rahe hain, jake inke ghar bata diyo (we are sparing you, go and tell his family).”

On the basis of Rajesh’s complaint, police have registered a case of murder against seven people, including BJP leader and former legislator Naresh Kaushik and several family members of Bahadurgarh municipal corporation chairperson Saroj Rathi. Police later added other charges under other sections of the Indian Penal Code to the FIR.

Police are now looking for the Hyundai i10 car the killers are suspected to have used.
