Veteran spinner Ravichandran Ashwin has made a bold prediction regarding an uncapped India player for fetching massive money in the upcoming IPL 2024 auction. Ashwin feels that Tamil Nadu batter Shahrukh Khan is going to attract big bids in the auction once again after Punjab Kings released them from their squad. Shahrukh was bought for a whopping INR 9 crore in IPL 2022 Auction but he failed to live up to the mega price tag as PBKS decided to part ways with him.
Shahrukh has played 33 IPL matches thus far and scored 426 runs at an underwhelming average of 20.29 with a strike rate of 134.81. He has yet to register a 50-plus score in the cash-rich league.

Ashwin, who played a lot of cricket alongside Shahrukh for Tamil Nadu in domestic cricket, backed him to break the bank once again. The veteran spinner feels that the two teams who are going to engage in a bidding war for Shahrukh are Chennai Super Kings and Gujarat Titans as predicted that he will be sold for more than his previous price.
“I can definitely see a war between CSK and GT for Shahrukh Khan because Gujarat have just lost middle batter/finisher Hardik and they need a power player. Shahrukh was at the Punjab Kings at ₹9 crores, and I felt he showed his skills pretty well. Is it a decent release? Because I think he is going to go for at least ₹12 or ₹13 crore again,” Ashwin said in his latest YouTube video.
Ashwin further said that CSK might let go of Mitchell Starc to sign Shahrukh in the upcoming auction.
“CSK might even take a chance of missing out on Mitchell Starc to get Shahrukh Khan because they don’t have a local player or a presence. They went for Shahrukh Khan in the mega auction, and that’s why I’m guessing so,” he added.
The Tamil Nadu batter has played 83 T20Is thus far in which he scored 928 runs at an average of 18.93. Meanwhile, Shahrukh Khan has a better record in List A cricket as he has hit 858 runs in 42 matches at an average of 40.85.
