The Australian opener showed his support to the Indian fans recoving from the disappointment of the ODI World Cup defeat.

It was Warner’s Australia that had the last laugh in the summit clash to take home a record-extending sixth title.

Warner shared a heartfelt post on X, referring to the Indian fans.

It came after an Indian fan shared a post referring Warner for breaking “billions of hearts.”

Replying to the now-deleted post on X, the Aussie batter wrote, “I apologise, it was such a great game and the atmosphere was incredible. India really put on a serious event. Thank you all.”

The words, unquestionably, touched the hearts of several Indian fans, who rallied to the comment section, demonstrating their admiration for Warner.

Overwhelmed by the heart-warming gesture, a fan commented, “How can you apologise for winning the world cup for your country.”

Another fan hailed Warner for his fielding effort during the World Cup final against India.

“You may not have hurt us with your batting. But you did hurt our batting by your fielding. It was something to learn from. Congratulations. Enjoy these lovely moments with your friends and family,” the person wrote.

An Indian supporter acknowledged the fact that Australia played way better than India in the finals. That’s why they became the champions. He said, “No need to apologise champ. You played better that day and won the ODI World Championship. Its a fact that everyone has to accept.”

Warner might fail to showcase his A-game with the bat in the final but he finished the ODI World Cup as Australia’s leading run-scorer.

In his 11 appearances in the tournament, Warner aggregated a total of 535 runs including two centuries and as many fifties. He was supposed to extend stay in India for some more days to play in a T20I series against India.

Cricket Australia, however, has recently decided to rest Warner from the bilateral assignment. “Selectors decided Warner would return home on the back of a successful yet demanding World Cup campaign,” the board announced in a statement on Tuesday.

The Suryakumar Yadav-led India will square off against Australia for the first game of the five-match series on Thursday, November 23 in Visakhapatnam.
