A day after one of the biggest burglaries was reported in the national capital, a similar crime took place in north Delhi’s Samaypur Badli on Wednesday where three bike-borne men wearing helmets robbed a jewellery store of ornaments worth Rs 28 lakh.
Three armed men wearing helmets barged into the store, robbed around 480 grams of jewellery worth around Rs 28 lakh and fled on the bike. According to the police, the incident took place around 1.30 pm when there were two to three customers inside the jewellery store.
They fired a bullet in the air while escaping from the spot as there was some traffic and people tried to overpower them, a senior police officer said.

A video of the incident is also surfacing on social media where three people on a motorcycle are seen escaping from the spot.
A case under sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and the Arms Act is being registered and an investigation has begun, police said.
Earlier this week, jewellery worth Rs 20 to 25 crore was looted from a shop in Delhi’s Jangpura. To get into the strongroom of the jewellery shop, the thieves first disconnected the cameras and made a hole into the locker. According to officials, thieves had meticulously planned the entire heist.
The burglars gained access through the terrace of the four-story building, making their way to the ground floor where the secure vault was situated, according to officials.
Subsequently, they drilled a hole into the wall to gain entry to the vault where the valuable ornaments were stored. In addition to these, they also made off with the jewellery on display in the showroom.
The owner of the showroom, who had locked up the establishment on Sunday evening, made the discovery of the theft upon reopening on Tuesday morning. The store remains closed on Mondays.
